The Role:
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring construction materials, equipment, and plant hire services. Your goal will be to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement that supports site operations and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and purchase materials and plant hire in line with project requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and hire companies
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
- Monitor and manage stock levels and delivery timelines
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation
- Liaise with site managers and project teams to forecast needs
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and industry regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a similar buying or procurement role ideally within the construction industry preferred but not essential
- Strong understanding of plant hire processes and equipment preferred but not essential
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple procurement tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and knowledge of SAGE and Collabor8 Online software preferred but not essential as training will be given
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
