NU Construction completed a competitive tender for a new industrial development at Boston, Lincolnshire for MKM. NU Construction were selected to develop the design and build scheme with the client and the contract administrator.
The works comprised the design and build, inclusive of a steel frame, clad building with storage mezzanine for use as a nationwide builder’s merchant. External works consisted of concrete yards, car parking, S278 highways works with associated external storage, access, column lighting and fencing.
Site investigations were carried out by the client prior to appointing N U Construction. The contract to start works stated that no obstructions or contamination were present within the ground of the site. NU Construction carried out a proof dig and recorded all findings to the footprint of the building in advance of the piling commencing, thus identifying any issues prior and mitigating costs and delays.
This identified areas of concern and a delay caused because of the removal of an unchartered borrow pit underneath the building which had asbestos containing material (ACM’s). NU Construction sought the approved contractor to carry out air monitoring, testing, safe removal, and clearance. This allowed NU Construction to progress and accommodate the clients’ fit-out team to complete their work on time.
Working with NU Construction has been seamless. From the inception through to completion the team has been proactive, agile and understanding of our needs as a client. NU Construction continuously worked with us in a collaborative manner and we are thrilled with the quality of workmanship provided. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend NU Construction to any clients.
