Simon Smith
Managing Director

Simon, a member of the Chartered Institute of Building, set up NU jointly with Tony Rogan in 2003, initially overseeing the Estimating, Purchasing and Marketing Departments as well as carrying out day to day estimating duties himself. A role he has enjoyed now for over 35 years within the construction industry.

Simon now managing director, works closely with clients and consultants and believes building these strong relationships has been instrumental to the company's success and the continued repeat business that NU has benefited from.


Mick McAuliffe
Associate Director (Construction)

Mick joined NU Construction in 2007 as Contracts Manager. Mick has had direct responsibility for a wide range of projects across all sectors of the market, including schools, hotels, prisons, retail commercial and inductrial schemes.

He has worked in the industry over 30 years and is well versed in traditional and design and build forms of contract.

Mick's duties involve the co-ordination and development of the construction department, having now recently been appointed Associate Director to support the growth of the business.


Matthew Crowther
Commercial Manager

Matthew joined the NU team in 2018. Having been in the industry for 20 years, Matthew brings with him a wealth of commercial knowledge . Matthew's expertise and responsibilities within the business include cash flow forecasting; procurement; supply chain management and producing and reviewing contract documentation. 


Tom Smith
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Tom joined the team 2017 as Quantity Surveyor. Tom previously worked for a large scale M&S contractor but successfully made the transition into commercial construction.  With his articulate and professional approach, he soon progressed to Senior Quantity Surveyor. Tom is a very driven individual who strives for best value solutions. He is accurate and articulate and a valued member of the team. 


Robert Kendrick
Senior Quantity Surveyor

Robert has recently joined us to carry out the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor. He brings with him over 25 years of industry experience.


Mark Elsom
Pre-Construction Manager

Mark joined the management team to reinforce the Pre-Construction process.

He brings 27 years experience from major players in the construction industry and now works as a key senior member of the team driving the business forward and into the future.

Mark is also responsible for leading the design and build sector of the business, building lasting partnerships with consultants and architects.  This element of the business is thriving through Mark's dedication and commitment to the role.


Laura Earnshaw
Business Development Manager

Laura has recently joined NU Construction as Business Development Manager. Having worked in the construction industry for 15 years, Laura's previous roles involved design management; proposals; establishing and developing the front end team, dealing with company branding, marketing and Business Development. 

Laura is responsible for representing the business, marketing and proposals and helping to maintain and develop our existing, healthy pipeline. 


Tony Pollard
Contract Manager

Working within the construction industry for over 35 years Tony brings to NU Construction a wealth of experience with a proven track record in delivering a wide variety of both large and small construction projects involving all aspects of Health & safety, Commercial, technical  and production elements. A skilled leader with high level of planning and a keen understanding of customer and client requirements


Gary Mallon
Contracts Manager

Joining the NU team in April 2019, Gary is a Contracts Manager and brings with him with over 30 years’ experience in the Construction Industry. Starting as a tradesman and moving into management Gary has worked on a large variety of projects both traditional and design and build, using a proactive approach to work. A people person, Gary also spent several years lecturing at Sheffield City College. His fantastic communication skills ensure for smooth management of his projects. 


Andy Lucas
Health & Safety Manager

Andy joined the team at Nu Construction in 2015 and has had a wide range of experience across all sectors including demolition, renewable energy and all the traditional sectors. Andy's current duties involve the co-ordination and development of Nu Construction's Health & Safety policies, proceedures and staff / operative training. He works tirelessly to keep the Health & Safety standard at its highest level, with a proven track record of efficiency.
